Developing Unmanned Aircraft

In order to manufacture Unmanned Aircraft in national aerospace technology, specialists from the Institute of Technology and Higher Studies (ITESO) carry out a program for the design and manufacture of unmanned aircraft, rockets and weather balloons Mexicans.

Dr. Javier Avalos Garcia, Academic Department of Technology and Electronic Processes Jalisco home studies, explained that although airborne platforms can have multiple applications, the goal of ITESO is that they serve as support in various scientific research as well as meteorology. He added that these technologies can also meet social objectives and their implementation in integrated security systems, or to locate missing people in areas of difficult access.

ITESO researchers and students have developed two platforms of unmanned flight sensor craft type, aircraft operated either by remote control or by an intelligent pilot concern. Currently experts optimize the operating range for flight under radio control of those ships, which today has reached a mile.

Avalos Garcia stated that would be implemented in the medium term to these more sophisticated aircraft stabilization systems, in order that they fly autonomously, without dependence on radio. To achieve this goal, currently ITESO specialists have forged synergies with Hewlett Packard Company that will develop computer systems that require this type of aircraft.

Other developments that specialists of the Department of Technological Processes and Electronic ITESO is made parallel hybrid engine design (which can be supplied by more than one source of energy) for implementation in sounding rocket type. Avalos Garcia stated that this technology could assist in a number of researches to basic science.

Additionally, experts ITESO develop technology to optimize flight from weather balloons, which could be used to study phenomena such as UV or cosmic radiation. Note that the aerostatic airborne platforms and developed in this university are subjected to rigorous studies to support these extreme conditions, such as changes in temperature or pressure.

Finally, the specialist emphasized ITESO currently conducts research in conjunction with the Mexican Space Agency to identify needs that could be addressed through the development of aerospace technologies themselves.
